James P. Duffy is the author of over a dozen books, most on military history. He has also written on the American Civil War and the rulers of Imperial Russia. He resides with his family in New Jersey.

Lindberg’s protests forced the White House to revise its action, causing a lasting animosity between the two famous Americans. The feud reignited when Hitler threatened Europe, and Lindberg preached isolationism, contrary to Roosevelt’s hawkish inclinations. Narrator Tom Weiner’s sonorous voice establishes a pace some might say goes too fast, but he can do it without dropping a word or losing the listener. Weiner adds spark to nonfiction by making it move along, maybe faster than many listeners would do with a printed page. Weiner’s narration adds greatly to our enjoyment of another New Deal war.
