Introduction
This book is all about Jesus—His passionate love for you and His desire for you to experience success in your life.
1. The Definition of Success
God’s definition of success is contrary to the world’s definition. It is not what you have but who you have. We need to learn how to stop pursuing things and to start pursuing God.
2. Everything You Touch Is Blessed
Because the Lord was with Joseph, He made all he did to prosper in his hand. That is a promise that we can believe—Jesus will bless whatever He places in our hands. That’s what you and I need—a manifestation of His presence in everything we do.
3. Becoming Safe for Success
As much as we are interested in the Jesus-kind of results in our lives, it is of equal importance that we desire the Jesus-kind of success. But to be safe to receive it, we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and pursue the kingdom of God, which is Jesus’ righteousness, peace, and joy.
4. Success Beyond Your Circumstances
We cannot evaluate God’s presence and His unmerited favor in our life based on our circumstances. When the unmerited favor of God is upon you, like it was upon Joseph, (1) you cannot help but find favor, (2) everything you do cannot help but prosper, and (3) you cannot help but experience increase and promotion beyond your wildest imagination.
5. Practicing the Presence of Jesus
This chapter contains practical keys for experiencing God’s manifested presence in your life by practicing His presence.
6. Your Right to God’s Unmerited Favor
Your righteousness in Christ is the sure foundation on which you can build your expectations to receive God’s unmerited favor. God sees you through the lens of the cross of His Son.
7. God’s Peace for Your Success
The peace of God is His shalom upon our lives—His completeness, safety, soundness, welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quietness, tranquility, contentment, and peace in human relationships.
8. Covenanted to Succeed in Life
The believer is under the new covenant of God’s unmerited favor and no longer under the law. He wants us to remember all the benefits that Jesus has purchased for us with His blood.
9. God’s Covenant of Unmerited Favor With Us
God’s unmerited favor is not just something that we pray for at certain moments—it is His covenant, and it permeates every aspect of our lives, beginning with our relationship with Jesus.
10. Perfected by Unmerited Favor
When you know that Christ has made you righteous apart from your works, and that He has perfected you by His unmerited favor, that will give you the ability to overcome every sinful temptation, habit, and addiction in your life.
11. Transforming the Next Generation
We need a whole new generation of youth leaders who have a revelation of God’s unmerited favor burning in their hearts. Only grace can transform our young people.
12. Our Part in the New Covenant
Our part in the new covenant of grace is to simply believe. Our part in the new covenant of God’s unmerited favor is to believe that we are completely forgiven of all our sins, and that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our unrighteousnes and lawlessness.
13. How Unmerited Favor Is Cheapened
Wrong believing always leads to wrong behavior. We cheapen the grace and the finished work of Jesus because of wrong beliefs. When we start believing that we are righteous in Christ, we will start to live righteously.
14. The Secret to Good Success
Joshua was exhorted to be strong and courageous four times in one chapter. We are to be full of God’s strength and courage. That means daring to be different. It means standing up for what you believe instead of compromising on your Christian morals and values. It means not acting out of fear of man’s opinion of you or allowing your decisions to be shaped by the need for man’s approval.
15. The Blessed Man Versus the Cursed Man
The man who trusts only in man is a cursed man; the man who trusts only in God is a blessed man. When you are like the blessed man, you will be evergreen! This means you will enjoy divine health, youthfulness, vibrancy, and dynamism.
16. Walking in the Blessing of Abraham
The promise of Abraham and his seed (you and I) is that he would be “the heir of the world.” We are an heir of the world—its goods, endowments, riches, advantages, and pleasures.
17. Becoming an Heir of the World
When we focus on using our faith to believe that we are righteous before God, God’s blessings will come after us. We will experience amazing increases and opportunities that we are not even believing God for. All the blessings of being an heir of the world will be unleashed into every aspect of our lives.
18. Self-Occupation Versus Christ-Occupation
Jesus is the bread of life, and bread must be eaten fresh each day. Put Jesus first in everything that you do. Honor Him and give Him preeminence in your daily life. Choose to focus on the beauty, glory, and love of Jesus. Choose not to be troubled about many things or constantly occupied with yourself.
19. The Prayer of the Unnamed Servant
Abraham sent his unnamed servant to look for a bride for Isaac, his son. The servant prayed: “Give me success this day…” Success here is the Hebrew word qarah—God’s positioning for right happenings. We need His qarah to lead us to be in the right place at the right time.
20. Divine Wisdom to Succeed
The spirit of wisdom and revelation is in the knowledge of Jesus. The more you know Jesus and have a revelation of His unmerited favor in your life, the more you will have the spirit of wisdom.
21. Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored, Deeply Loved
Learn to personalize God’s favor in your life. When you realize that you are not just a face in the crowd, but someone whom God is passionately in love with, you can’t help but want to live a life that glorifies your Abba.
22. The Secret of the Beloved
When God looks at you, He doesn’t see you in your failures and shortcomings. He sees you in Jesus’ perfection and loveliness.
