Overview

Above the Law's third album, Uncle Sam's Curse, shows the Los Angeles rap crew incorporating some of Dr. Dre's sonic innovations into their basic gangsta rap sound. The group remains fine rappers and several of the tracks rank among their finest work, but the album is little more than a holding pattern -- instead of moving forward, they're just keeping up with their contemporaries. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
