About the Author

Geoffrey Parrinder is Emeritus Professor of the Comparative Study of Religions at the University of London. He is the author of over 30 books on world religions, which have been translated into many languages.

In some 3,000 quotations, Parrinder (comparative religion, U. of London) has tried to be comprehensive and selective, ancient and modern. In each topical section, he includes only one quotation each from the Old and New Testaments so the Bible doesn't overwhelm all else.
