Two discs, each containing digital human data from the Visible Human Project. The CD with the Visible Man has 22 different frontal views and 1878 transverse cross sections. The Visible Woman has 13 frontal views and 5189 cross-sections. Transverse cross-sections are decompressed and viewed as high resolution images.

The male and female cadavers were first imaged using computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging devices and then embedded in gelatin and frozen. Each cadaver was physically sliced [like lunch meat], photographed, and digitized." The disc offers easy access to this digital imagery information, and users can quickly view a cross section of the heart, manipulate the image, decompress the slice, and save it to a disk. Bottom Line: A research product remarkable both for its content and its ease of use, this is highly recommended for students of anatomy and reference collections serving them.
