This book desires to present the most recent scientific information supporting the leading theories of chiropractic. Designed essentially as a series of in-depth literature reviews, it discusses various subluxation theories and presents information on outcome assessments, research, social theory of chiropractic, and integrated models of the subluxation complex. The purpose is to present information regarding the most modern concepts of chiropractic clinical care. It is designed to be used both by students as they learn and by field practitioners as they render care. The emphasis is on research documentation of theoretical chiropractic, and each chapter is extensively referenced as a result. This book, as noted above, is primarily designed to be used by student and field chiropractors. It will also appeal to osteopaths, physical therapists, and manual medicine practitioners. There are numerous black-and-white illustrations and photographs that help to illustrate key concepts discussed in the text. The illustrations are professionally drawn. One of the strongest points of this text is its extensive referencing. There are hundreds of references, all of which are up-to-date. Appendixes in the book provide discussions of the social theory of chiropractic and of an integrated model of the vertebral subluxation complex. There are also chapters on research and outcome assessment, both hard and soft. This is the third edition of a book that is widely used within the chiropractic profession. The additions and changes in this book make it completely up-to-date with recent developments, and it will find widespread use once again. The information conveyed within is valuable, and will certainly beused in most chiropractic college curricula. This is a valuable text, and I highly recommend it.
