Description: Since the publication of the 2010 edition of this book, the application of vascular ultrasound has continued to grow, and this edition addresses the changes in new applications, new instrumentation, and increasing numbers of physicians and sonographers in the field.
Purpose: The purpose is to uphold the vision of Dr. D. Eugene Strandness in the first edition of this book in 1990 by providing a comprehensive overview of the indications, techniques, interpretation, and applications of duplex scanning and other testing methods used in the vascular laboratory.
Audience: This book is written for vascular surgeons, cardiologists, vascular medicine specialists, radiologists, vascular technologists, and other healthcare providers with an interest in vascular disease, as well as trainees in these fields. Both editors are former trainees of Dr. Strandness and are leaders in the field of vascular surgery and noninvasive imaging.
Features: Updates in this edition include revised chapters on new uses of duplex scanning related to endovascular techniques including follow-up after carotid interventions, peripheral endovascular interventions, and aortic endografts. In addition, chapters have been updated to reflect increased interest in venous disease. Most importantly, a new section has been added on vascular laboratory education and training to provide a list of vascular laboratory testing protocols, and lay out a comprehensive vascular laboratory curriculum.
