Description: This is the second edition of a pocket-sized book dedicated to teaching the anatomy of the extremities and spine. It provides cross-sectional images and color-coded diagrams of the anatomy of these regions.
Purpose: The authors propose to provide a pocket guide for point-of-care learning of the anatomy of the extremities and spine. Included in the diagrams are muscle groups, nerves, vessels, and tendons.
Audience: Individuals with exposure to cross-sectional imaging of the musculoskeletal system are the intended audience. The book is at an appropriate level for this audience.
Features: While the diagrams are nicely color coded and well labeled, the cross-sectional images are not. This is a definite drawback of the book, particularly for individuals not familiar with the imaging appearance of different structures.
Assessment: For individuals without a working knowledge of the cross-sectional imaging appearances of these regions, the lack of labeling on the MR and CT images is a significant detractor from the utility of this book.
