About the Author

James Sonne is the Gross Anatomy and Neuroscience educator for University of Central Florida's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program where he also researches the effects of physical exercise on neurodegeneration and brain aging. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine for his translational studies on the prevention of Parkinson's disease using a novel peptide delivered to the brain non-invasively by nasal spray.

Description: This book on anatomical dissection is an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to placement, dissection technique, and anatomical knowledge of a human cadaver.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a mixed approach to cadaveric human dissection for physical therapy students. In addition to simply guiding students through cadaveric human dissection, the book explains the tools needed for dissection, as well as how each will be used moving forward. The book does an excellent job of guiding readers through the dissection process using a simple but effective numbering system
Audience: The book is clearly written for physical therapy students, but it certainly would be appropriate for any individual performing a cadaveric human dissection or interested in anatomy and physiology. The book does an excellent job meeting the needs of students, as it is clear, well written, and easy to follow. The author has a PhD in anatomy and neurobiology with experience in both teaching and peer-reviewed research in anatomy.
Features: In addition to providing a step-by-step guide to dissection, this book does a fantastic job integrating clinical knowledge and practical recommendations regarding certain anatomical structures and regions of the body. The images are clear, well dissected, and well labeled. The clinical questions at the end of each chapter add an important clinical component for students.
Assessment: This is an excellent guide for students in a human dissection lab, but it also would be a helpful reference even for experienced clinicians because of the clear pictures and accurate markings. It is superior to other dissection-guided books.
