Overview

Living Stones is a remarkable life story of how a little girl fought her way through depression, anxiety, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder, to live in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Amoya shares intimate details of past experiences with abuse, addiction, and trauma. With powerful storytelling, she invites the reader into the mind of her innermost being as a teenager and eventually as a young adult navigating life on her own. Her testimony is provocative yet serene. It offers a fresh perspective on what it means to have raw fellowship with Holy Spirit- aka JP for Jehovah Power, as endearingly nicknamed by Amoya.

"I never planned on writing a book for the sake of publishing it. I just wanted a way to express my feelings and keep track of all the things that were happening in my life. As I became more comfortable sharing my story, I realized that it was helping people. That is the power of a testimony. A testimony has the unique ability to go where theology is not welcomed. It says to come to Holy Spirit just as you are and just as I met Him, still raggedy and a hot mess. He will heal you up afterward. Just come." -AR

About the Author

Amoya Rowe began her career as a Student Success Coach after obtaining a degree in Community Health from Florida Gulf Coast University. In this role, she monitored the attendance, behavior, and course performance of students operating below core benchmarks. Amoya worked as an educator and eventual Counselor for two years delivering trauma-informed services to high-need youths including those with ongoing mental health challenges and adverse childhood experiences.

Amoya transitioned to the field of social services and served as an Early Childhood Family Support Facilitator with Partnership for Strong Families, the lead child welfare agency for North Central Florida. In this role, she coordinated resources for children and families to prevent child abuse through various intervention strategies. Amoya experienced much success in this role and had the opportunity to develop her leadership skills after being promoted to the Community Support and Outreach Coordinator. In this position, Amoya organized services and outreach initiatives for family resource centers across Alachua, Columbia, and Levy counties.

Eager to expand her knowledge of preventative initiatives within the community and get back to her passion for working with youth, Amoya joined the Hanley Foundation as a Prevention Specialist. She has deemed herself a lifelong learner and is currently pursuing graduate studies for a dual master’s degree in nonprofit management and public administration with a graduate certificate in fundraising. Her time with the Hanley Foundation will be a pivotal asset to her professional goal of leading nonprofit organizations through strategic investments in prevention programs.

Amoya has dedicated her life professionally and personally to cultivating spaces for prosocial relationships to blossom. More than all of this, Amoya is a woman of faith who lives her life chasing after the promises of God. She makes sure to note that she is "not a theology expert. Just a girl that loves Jesus Christ and the Word." Her ministry is compassionate and on fire for people with broken hearts and contrite spirits. In her free time, she enjoys serving in her local church where she leads a women’s ministry and finds much fulfillment. Her can-do attitude and positive outlook serve as valuable assets to accomplishing the mission of Living Stones!
