Journey to the United States Supreme Court Bar is a remarkable story that details the author's career path from a small town in Louisiana to an October 4, 2022 "in person" admission to the United States Supreme Court Bar. The defining moment is when she realizes that her ceremony will be one day after the first African American woman associate justice is seated on the high court. It originates out of the faith and vision of a young girl who dared to dream bigger than her current circumstances describing moments of challenge, betrayal, hurt and pain, as well as times of joy and success. The work vividly takes the reader into the life of the writer while encouraging others to be the best they can be using what is available to them. It is a memoir that shares both laughter and victory while not sparing the painful moments characterized by betrayal, broken trust, disappointment, and hurt.

The author shares her experiences from childhood to adulthood while focusing on her legal journey. Thus, it is a bildungsroman of sorts that charts her career path from law school graduation to social and professional maturation. She explores the impact of being educated in racially identifiable schools, from grades K-12, without the "stigmatic injury" of "de jure" segregation. The juxtaposition of struggle and progress is evident when she explains why she felt like a "visitor" when attending a predominantly white institution of higher learning. The vivid descriptions and colorful language allow the reader to envision the courtroom moments that were further highlighted by the Alabama Voting Rights Act case, which was heard on that date.
