Overview

A May 2002 conference brought together leading policy makers and practitioners in science and technology with leaders of research and development facilities from both the Central Asian republics and NATO countries, and enabled them to share their experiences with each other. Papers from the conference describe science and technology and innovation policies in the Central Asian republics, the NATO Science program and technology cooperation, and ongoing NATO projects involving Central Asian republics. They also report on collaboration throughout the region in the areas of information and communication technology, genomics and biotechnology, sustainable development and natural disasters, and innovation systems.
