This multiauthored book comprises 24 chapters covering a wide range of topics in the field of immunoassay. Included are chapters devoted to antibody engineering, antibody production, labeling, each of the major classes of signal detection, automation, and immunoblotting. The book is written to assist in the training of individuals who wish to develop a specialist-level competency in immunodiagnostics. The book will be of interest to clinical chemists, pathologists, and other laboratory scientists who develop immunoassays or direct immunoassay laboratories. Individual chapters stand on their own as informative reviews of selected areas of immunoassay and will be useful to students and laboratorians who are looking to learn about a specific area within the discipline. The book has a definite slant toward the diagnostic uses of immunoassay, and the authors have done an excellent job in tying the theoretical aspects to the practical issues of laboratory analysis and interpretation.
