Description: This book describes the physiology of circulation in a vernacular style.
Purpose: The purpose is to present concepts of circulatory physiology in a concise, clear manner, which is needed. Many books are concise, but few are clear. The author has written a book that is terse, clear, and entertaining.
Audience: The author has written this book for health sciences students. It is also an adequate review for medical and dental students and presents material that might not be treated in some health science programs such as nursing, hygiene, physical therapy, etc. I do not know the author, but the material he presents is accurate.
Features: This book discusses the function of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. It clearly presents the basic principles in a "bare bones" fashion. The language is simple and easy to understand. The reviews preceding each chapter are useful, but sometimes a little too brief. Because of the brevity some physical concepts are not discussed completely enough.
Assessment: This is an excellent book for students who already have a basic grasp of the subject. It is more current and accurate than other very brief books. Its simplicity and brevity prevent the author from making errors found in other review texts.
