Hardware stores beware in the horror classic The Toolbox Murders. This transfer is presented in a 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen version that appears to be in decent shape. The image's biggest flaws come in the form of some washed-out colors in a few key scenes, as well as some intrusive dirt in the print. Otherwise, this is a nice-looking picture that sports solid colors and dark black levels. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital Mono in English and sounds very unimpressive. While most of the mix is clear of any hiss or distortion, overall the track lacks anything in fidelity or directional effects. No alternate subtitles or soundtracks are available on this disc. The Toolbox Murders features a few well-produced extras, starting with a commentary track by producer Tony DiDio, director of photography Gary Graver, and actress Pamelyn Ferdin. This is a mellow track that should provide viewers with a wealth of insight into the film's production and story. An eight-minute featurette titled "I Got Nailed in The Toolbox Murders" includes a funny, short interview with star Kelly Nichols discussing her role in the film. Finally there is a TV spot, a theatrical trailer for the film, some radio spots, a poster and still gallery, and a bio on Cameron Mitchell.
