This book describes different types of colloidal dispersions that are used for the formulation and delivery of drugs. It is organized according to the physical state of the dispersed phase. Ointments being relatively fluid are covered first, followed by microemulsions, liposomes, niosomes, and finally solid state nanoparticles. The purpose of this book is to update the recent developments in the colloidal drug carriers that are mostly used for controlled and/or site specific delivery of drugs. The book is intended for graduate students and researchers in pharmaceutical, medical, agricultural, and veterinary areas both at academic and industrial settings. The book has a sufficient number of figures (even though one figure is duplicated in two separate chapters) and tables, which are self-explanatory. The quantity, currency, and pertinence of the references are very appropriate. This is a very useful book for students and scientists in the field of drug delivery. The most recent developments in drug delivery are controlled and site-specific delivery, which can be achieved by the use of colloidal dispersions. This book very successfully describes the recent developments in the colloidal drug delivery systems. Every delivery system is first covered from the physical chemical points of view, then followed by their applications. The authors and the contributors of the book are well established scientists in this area.
