Albert Curry Winn is President Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He is also a former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

This traditional exposition of Christian basics is enlivened by powerful images, the tone of a fireside chat with a friend, and a wide variety of cultural and theological references. Most creative of all is Winn's treatment of the ten commandments as the ten promises, relating them to unity, non-idolatry, ``no empty name,'' rest, stability, life, faithfulness, generosity, truthfulness, and contentment. This is mainstream Christianity from someone who has apparently prayed deeply and for whom the ancient formulas carry deep meaning. Highly recommended for seminary and public libraries.
