Is there such a thing as too smart?

In the not-so-distant-future, scientists construct a machine that thinks for itself and surpasses our intelligence. That super-smart machine might not want to serve us anymore -- it might even want to rule us. How should humans respond when our own creation believes it knows better than we do?
