V.C. Andrews (1923-1986) was an American author of gothic horror and dark family sagas. She is best known for her Dollanger series, which she began in 1979 with Flower in the Attic the series concluded posthumously with Garden of Shadows. Flower in the Attic was adapted into a film in 1987. Andrews' other popular series include The Audrina series and the Casteel series. Since her death, her estate has employed the ghostwriter Andrew Neiderman to finish the manuscripts she had started.
