The author of 29 books, award-winning writer Tony Hillerman was most famous for his mystery series starring Navajo Tribal Police detectives Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn. Some of the top titles from that series include The Blessing Way, Skinwalkers, and Skeleton Man. He was also the author of stand-alone novels, children’s books, essays, and his memoir, Seldom Disappointed, which revealed that he was a decorated World War II combat veteran. Several of his novels were adapted into movies and television features. A long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM, Hillerman died in 2008.
