Dubbed "The Master of Suspense," he's written over 140 novels, tons of short stories, and 16 movies have been made based on his books. Koontz is the creator of the series based on Odd Thomas, the likeable fry cook with occult powers, and other popular series such as the Frankenstein Series. Suspense, fantasy, horror, and heart combine in Koontz's books in equal measure to create unforgettable stories. Early in his career, Koontz wrote books under a number of pen names, including "David Axton," "Leigh Nichols," and "Brian Coffey". He resides in Southern California with his wife, Gerda, and their golden retriever, Elsa.
