Zoe Brennan, First Crush

A struggling vineyard owner gets a second taste of her first crush in this romantic comedy that sparkles with humor and heat.

Zoe Brennan may be the loneliest lesbian in Blue Ridge, but at least she has her family vineyard to keep her busy.

When a prestigious wine festival announces it's coming to town, it kicks off a battle royale among local vineyards vying for the opportunity to host it. Zoe's in it to win it-being chosen would put Bluebell Vineyards on the map, and she could stick it to the vineyard next door, run by her ex-best friend (now enemy), Rachel. But when Zoe's father is called home to Italy to care for his sick mother, Bluebell is left without a vintner.

Dejected, Zoe impulsively agrees to a blindfolded threesome with a friend, and excitingly, a stranger. But once the blindfolds come off, Zoe realizes the hot butch that rocked her world isn't a stranger at all. It's Laine Woods-Zoe's first crush, Rachel's big sister, and, Zoe is horrified to discover, the Napa-trained vintner Zoe's dad just hired as his replacement.

While they try to ignore their sizzling chemistry, Laine's snobbery and Zoe's pride collide at every step, creating a generous pour of professional-and sexual-tension. Collaborating is the only way to win the festival, but when that means late nights under the stars and letting go of the past, Zoe must be careful-or Laine might crush her heart for good.

“Sizzling and surprising, Zoe Brennan, First Crush is a fun and dreamy romance, reminding readers that the best blends in life are sometimes the ones you least expect.”
—Ashley Herring Blake, bestselling author of Delilah Green Doesn't Care

“A steamy, heartfelt, lesbian romance full of found family that highlights how the stories our families tell, and the stories we tell ourselves, shape who we are, but don’t have to define who or how we love.” —USA Today bestselling author Emma R. Alban of Don't Want You Like a Best Friend and You're the Problem, It's You

"Laura Piper Lee delivers another joyfully queer and deliciously swoonworthy small-town romance in Zoe Brennan, First Crush. Winery owner Zoe and vintner Laine burst onto the page with heart, heat, and a rogue goat named Baahlzebub as they work together to put Zoe’s family vineyard on the map. I laughed, sobbed, and cheered as loud as Laine at a kids’ soccer game—Zoe Brennan, First Crush is the sexiest, sweetest, and most heartfelt romance of the year."  —Alexandra Vasti, USA Today bestselling author of the Halifax Hellions series and Ne'er Duke Well

"I drank this novel down like a bottle of fine wine! Zoe Brennan has the perfect blend of heart and humor.” —Camille Kellogg, author of Just As You Are

"Laura Piper Lee is the rowdy queen of the queer rom-com! Pull up a chair at the tasting bar at Bluebell Vineyards—Zoe Brennan, First Crush is as crisp and sweet as a summer white wine. I challenge you to not fall in love with Zoe, Laine, and the heartfelt antics of small town Blue Ridge. Lee hits all the right tasting notes in this sexy sophomore romance about fighting with, and falling for, the gorgeous butch vintner next door." —Ella Dawson, author of But How Are You, Really

Zoe Brennan works hard to keep the vineyard her parents started in Blue Ridge going. When her father decides to return home to Italy and help his family, he also informs Zoe that he's already hired a replacement vintner, who turns out to be Laine Woods, the first woman Zoe ever had a crush on. Laine has returned to Blue Ridge after a spectacular, almost career-ending failure. Seeking redemption, she dives head first into her new job. She knows how to grow the best grapes and bring out nuanced flavors in the wine—and she could put her skill to good use, if only Zoe would stop micromanaging everything. When a prestigious wine festival begins scouting locations, Zoe is determined to make sure her family's vineyard is chosen, which requires collaborating with Laine instead of arguing. It also means spending long hours together, planning, tasting, and flirting, but Zoe is worried Laine will leave her behind for bigger and better things. VERDICT This steamy romance has everything readers could ask for: excellent writing, well-developed characters, an atmospheric setting, and a forced-proximity workplace romance. Fans of Anita Kelly and Ashley Herring Blake will adore Zoe and Laine and clamor for more from Lee (Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair).—Heather Miller Cover
