Me... a Knight? When the Chief Owl reveals the meaning of the blue stripe running down Zertelo's tail, the young lizard sets out on a magical quest. But the evil hawk Bailfar, who rules over the Forest, has many bats and spiders hunting for Knights. Zertelo must learn well and learn quickly if he is to reach CastleOak at the heart of the Forest and end Bailfar's tyranny. With the help of a wizard frog and a tortoise sidekick, the young lizard overcomes his fears and finds strength he never imagined.

In becoming a Knight, Zertelo affirms every child's deepest wish - that who they are and what they are capable of doing is of profound value to the world.

About the Author

Daniel Scott Arnauld is a writer, artist and educator. He lives in Dallas, Texas.

Arnauld was inspired to write children's books like the ones he had loved growing up. At the age of ten he began reading The Chronicles of Narnia and by the age of twelve had read The Hobbit. The idea for his own series of young adult novels came when he bought a potted plant and a small lizard hitchhiked to his home along with it. Arnauld began seeing the lizard in various places around his home, and particularly on a bookshelf in his office. Imagining the adventures the small creature could have in a mythological setting, Arnauld created not only a character but an entire animal society like that of King Arthur and his Knights.

To promote his series, Arnauld travels to schools and libraries sharing his experiences of writing and conducting creative writing workshops. He is available to speak in the north and north east Texas area and he does not charge a speaking fee.

Arnauld earned a Bachelor of Communication from Southern Methodist University. Majoring in Cinema and minoring in Literature, Arnauld claims to have also wanted to build an entire world like the filmmakers Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) and George Lucas (Star Wars.) Several short works of animation by Arnauld are posted on YouTube.
