Overview

After breaking up with his first love and losing his only family member, Zachary Valentino has his heart set on taking revenge on Alta Williams, the wicked queen of the Underworld, for the irreversible damage she inflicted on him. As he joins the Otherworld, however, his life is far from peaceful. The Elders mock, ridicule, and demean him for his lack of potential, with his mentor and only ally, Helen Edmunds, as an exception. One day, fortune smiles upon him and grants him a miracle that brings him and Helen closer to each other, and he develops an infatuation for her. When King Patrick and Queen Marianne send Helen on a mission to the Underworld, Zack risks his life and volunteers to accompany her through the unknown trials that await them. What neither of them are aware of is the sobering fact that this quest may determine their rise or fall in more ways than one, for their demise may not be as far away as it seems....

About the Author

A director of words and a scientist of multiple genres, Hermione Lee is an award-winning author and cover designer. Her first book, In the Name of the Otherworld, was released by World Castle Publishing when she was sixteen. She has won the gold medal in the 2023 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards, the gold medal in the 2022 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards, a finalist in the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and the bronze medal in the 2023 Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) President’s Book Awards.

Hermione Lee was born and raised in Taiwan, where everyone and everything in her life stimulated her rich imagination and inspired her to write. Although she prefers writing stories in her grandma’s cozy home or Starbucks (with a cup of latte or cherry tea, of course), she writes anytime and anywhere. To her, words are portals that whisk her to whimsical worlds of magic. When Hermione isn’t writing, she indulges herself in epic tales of fantasy, horror, and adventure but mostly dwells in her reverie. She considers herself an eclectic eccentric and an eccentric eclectic. Her works span multiple genres—fantasy, paranormal, horror, young adult, middle-grade, mystery, literary, and romance, and she aspires to write a book of every genre one day. It is also her dream to be a wealthy recluse when she grows old.
