Overview

A biography of my father, born of immigrant parents and seeking a better life in America. Brought here as a boy in 1907 my grandfather begins the American journey in upstate NY where his parents begin to farm the fertile soil of freedom. From farming through the great depression, the loss of new born children and their land, they continued to fight for the American dream. My father comes from these roots, struggling against all odds through poverty, the Second World War, close encounters with death and climbing the ladder of success. He never loses his belief in himself or his country. He loses himself for a time, wandering the desert of hope and ambition but soon recovers to focus on what is important. It is not wealth or fame or stepping on others to accomplish your goals but rather through helping others, lifting other that his finds success. It is a story of love for his family, his nation and its' promise, trucking, but most of all for the woman who gave up all her privilege to become his wife.

About the Author

After a life on the road performing as a singer/songwriter and Comedian, releasing eight music albums, three comedy CD's and a DVD, I have turned my creative energies to one of my great loves; Reading. I have loved to read since I was very young and discovered a long time ago I was never bored, lonely or without marvelous entertainment as long as I had a book. So, it seemed natural to write one. This novel is actually my third but the first I have published. The first I thought truly worth asking people to read. All of the characters in this work of fiction either are folks I have met, fictionalized, or amalgamations of people I have known rolled into one. The Great joy of attempting this work was finding a way to get into each and every skin of those whom I knew and wanted to share with you. I had to truly empathize with each character, to know them without judging, to allow them to be who they were without trying to make them who I wanted them to be. I found it challenging and really rewarding. It is my hope that you will like them as much as I did. This is what a life on the road, driving the highways, two lanes and gravel for two and a half million miles across the USA and meeting her people, has wrought! I love this country and how giving, hard working and truly wonderful the people of this country are. I have been fortunate to meet these folks and hundreds of others on my travels and am always impressed by their kindness, generosity and good humor. So there you have the why's and wherefore's of this book. It is my hope you will enjoy the ride. I know I have. For the record I am 64 years old, have been married to my love for 33 years, have two grown, wonderful daughters and an assortment of dogs, the number subject to change at any given moment. Enjoy life, travel, explore. I have performed in 49 states, Canada, Ireland and beyond. I love to write music, comedy and stories. Slainte!
