About the Author

Liz Climo is a cartoonist, children’s book author, illustrator, and animator. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Los Angeles after college to work as a character artist on The Simpsons. She is the author of the Rory the Dinosaur series, The Little World of Liz Climo, Lobster Is the Best Medicine, Please Don't Eat Me!, and Best Bear Ever!. Her books have been translated into ten languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.

As babies grow through their first years, various milestones are met and remembered by their caretakers. These are baby animals growing up in humanoid environments, so even if the little turtle hatches from an egg on a beach, it may have a growth chart its parent marks off. In fact, any time one of the babies reaches a new benchmark, their grown-up is there to note it. The text is of the omniscient narrator, encouraging and remembering. Climo creates superb verses that share the love, care, and sometimes frustrations that come along with raising children. The simple and pure text allows for easy reading while still creating a connection between the characters featured in the illustrations. The charming art is bright and lively, with the simple expressive lines of Sandra Boynton. It is sure to capture and keep the attention of young readers.
