About the Author

I’m Joey…I’m not an alcoholic! I was addicted to alcohol…I am not anymore. Alcohol holds no power over me. I had an Alcohol Use Disorder…I don’t anymore. Now, I’m a person who chooses not to drink. I’m a non-drinker…the same as a non-smoker. Not too long ago, I was an unhappy person… sad, discouraged and discontent. In search of refuge from my distress, I tried distancing myself from the pain… drowning it out with the temporary, sensory pleasure from alcohol. I knew that alcohol would not reverse my suffering…that it was only a diversion… It temporarily helped me forget my problems… did absolutely nothing to solve them and failed to make me happy. What it did do was help to slur my speech, lose my coordination, fall down and on a number of occasions pass out… It also made me nasty, obnoxious and not fun to be around. I knew I could not continue…I had to put an end to my alcohol abuse. When I did stop drinking, I realized I had achieved only one part of my goal… Something was still missing from my life. My ultimate goal was to have a healthy, happy lifestyle, without the need or desire to drink alcohol… I didn’t want to become an unhappy, sober person. My focus was on creating a better life for myself … If I hadn’t accomplished that, I probably would have returned to drinking. Today, I can confidently say that I have achieved my goal… I have Recovered…I am Happy and Content with No Desire to drink alcohol. I have just completed my first book, You Have The Power, to share with you my transformational journey from a sad and despondent abuser of alcohol to a sober, joyful and content person with a passion for living.
