You Can't Get There From Here
Long disillusioned with leadership in America, author Harry Taylor happened upon an opportunity in 2006 to confront president George W. Bush. That widely reported dustup opened a Pandora’s box of pent-up emotion and anger across the world. Today, leadership remains questionable, yet even as our frustration mounts, we Americans continue to trust that public servants actually serve the public. Sadly – and often – they do not. But the majority of We, the People – in lieu of standing up and demanding honesty and transparency from our leaders – have become weary and apathetic. Though understandable, such cynicism has led us to abdicate our role in democracy – being actively and intelligently involved, and vocally committed to a just and healthy tomorrow for our land. Rather than drop out, Harry Taylor chose to stand up and speak truth to power. He believed in the right of every American to rise to the U.S. Congress where ideally, one could lead with common sense, compassion, authenticity, and integrity. Instead he found the path to People’s House rigged via the insidious practice of gerrymandering. Harry Taylor profiles his journey while sharing his take on our faux democracy. Along with gerrymandering, Harry Taylor takes on the lack of voter-owned elections and term limits. His hope is that the dream of democracy, for which so many have given so much, will be restored before it’s too late.
