About the Author

Dawn Chavous is a mompreneur with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and sociology from Ursinus College and a Master of Science degree in organizational dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the President & CEO of Chavous Consulting, LLC, a certified minority/women-owned management consulting fi rm specializing in event planning, fundraising, public relations, community engagement, and strategic planning, and has been in business for over eleven years. Dawn is also a community and education advocate and women's rights activist. She has founded and supported numerous programs and education-related initiatives to positively impact underserved communities throughout her career. While watching the movie Moana during the global pandemic, Dawn's eldest son told her he wasn't special because he couldn't fly like Maui. Dawn's heart sank because as much as she and her husband told him how much they loved him and how amazing he was, he still felt he wasn't special. That heartbreaking conversation inspired Dawn to write this book, so he and every other child will know that they are, indeed, special. Dawn is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is happily married and the proud mother of two beautiful boys, Elijah, 5, Isaiah, 7, and their 9-year-old dog Sasha Blu.
