Yoda, I am
This is the story of a rescue pup told from his point of view! Yoda is a Xoloitzcuintle, a primitive breed that dates back to the Aztec Indians. It is more commonly known as Mexican Hairless and/or Xolo (pronounced cho-low). He was rescued from the San Antonio Chihuahua Rescue in August 2003 weighing in at only 5lbs 4 ounces. Yoda was born approximately February 6, 2003. His original name was Bubba, but he looked so much like the Star Wars character that his name was changed immediately!

When I first met Yoda, he had come up from Texas on an airplane all the way to Salt Lake City, Utah to meet me, his grandmother. It was love at first sight, as I knew that this was a special dog. He seemed to be so comfortable wherever he was, and whoever held him. He was in my home for a few days and I never heard him bark. But his eyes always told you that he was happy with his life. I later learned that he only barked when he was hungry. Do you believe that any dog could do this? He did later learn to bark from his brother gizmo.

I felt that he was so special in so many ways that I felt that more people should have a chance to know him. This book was written as though he is telling his own story because I felt that he would like to have written it by himself, but he could not learn how to use the computer.

About the Author

Judith Jones is a mother of four and grandmother of seven (including Yoda and Gizmo). She is 86 years young living in Durham, North Carolina. Due to macular degeneration, she began losing her sight in 2002. As the years went on she lost more and more of her sight,. Ebooks have been a blessing as there is enough contrast and font adjustment that she is able to continue her favorite pastime of reading. Approximately two years ago, Judith acquired the program "Dragon" which opened up the world of writing on the computer. She primarily started out dictating emails so that she was able to communicate with her siblings, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. She then started to dictate her life story and has continued to add to it. She wanted another fun project and knew telling "Yoda's" story is an important project for her, and for Yoda. Judy has spent many hours with Yoda sitting on her lap, or beside her, as she reads. Her inspiration to write about Yoda is to introduce readers to the singularly unique relationship many of us share with our pets.
