About the Author

Debbie Polisky is a bilingual nutritionist who has empowered individuals (patients, students,

clients, employees) and groups to be passionate and faithful about their own food heritage while

modifying lifestyle habits for a healthier mind and body.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Buenos Aires University,

Argentina, a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Rosalind University, Chicago, IL, a

Master of Business Administration degree with a Marketing concentration from Keller Graduate

School of Management and several health related certificates.

Debbie grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in

Nutrition from the University of Buenos Aires. As a licensed dietitian in Buenos Aires, she

worked during seven years in clinical dietetics for a rehab cardiac center, serving cardiac and

other chronically ill patients (diabetes, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity.)

Her bilingual skills lead her to obtain a position as a bilingual community nutritionist in a

community health center in Arizona in the year 2000. She quickly moved up the career ladder in

less than a year – as a Coordinator and then Director, focusing on public health and community

nutrition. During eleven years, she worked for the same organization, gaining experience in

nutrition state and federal grants – including the Women, Infant and Children Program (WIC),

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (Seniors), Farmer’s Market and several diabetic and

employee wellness grants which she wrote, implemented and administered.

Parallel to this, her passion for education led her to become an adjunct faculty for several on

campus and online institutions. Currently, she continues to educate students and encourages them

to follow their own dreams, no matter what obstacles they face along the way.

Her bilingual health background and her creativity led her to create her own business, Words &

Health, LLC in 2011, offering bilingual health communication services. Being passionate about

healthcare, wellness and nutrition, she provides the following health-related services to

organizations and to the community: translations (websites, brochures, manuals, documents),

bilingual writing (creation of nutrition materials in either language, Social Media – blogs,

articles, newsletters), bilingual webinars and wellness workshops/conferences for employees, the

community (families and seniors) and healthcare professionals and she is a frequent

spokesperson for the media (weekly on a radio nutrition segment for the Hispanic population and

she has been featured frequently on the Hispanic television, Channel 44 Phoenix and Univisión).

She encourages readers to visit her website at: wordsandhealth.com and read her bilingual

blogs, listen to her podcasts, check out her marketplace (with nutrition e-books and materials)

and write to her. By providing comments, suggestions and feedback about current health topics

and interests, she will be able to reach her audience for future e-books.
