Lynn Delgado, a psychotherapist, finds herself the target of a killer. FBI agent Nash Garner is Lynn's ex and determined to keep her safe despite her clear emotional barriers. Rushdan manages to pack a lot of events into a few pages and a short time period. She also takes an interesting tack to open a romance with the main couple breaking up, and while Lynn's reasoning for doing so is familiar, her reasoning for continued avoidance is less understandable. VERDICT Purchase this series opener where Rushdan's (An Operative's Last Stand) previous books have been popular.—Mary Frances Cely
