Overview

Though the war's end was becoming obvious, the German high command persisted if fighting. Hitler initiated a final effort to capture the seaport of Antwerp, Belgium. The bloody Battle of the Bulge resulted in great losses by both the Allies and Germans.
President Roosevelt died before his "unconditional surrender" terms were realized. VP Harry Truman became the president during both VE and VJ days only to face another conflict in Korea.
