Overview

Although it received mixed reviews when it first came out, and was often condemned for its portrayal of amoral passion, the book subsequently became an English literary classic. The title of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors of the story. The narrative centres on the all-encompassing, passionate, but ultimately doomed love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, and how this unresolved passion eventually destroys them and the people around them. -Wikipedia.com

About the Author

Emily Bronte
(1818-1848) British writer. Emily Bronte is one of the infamous Bronte sisters (her sisters were Charlotte and Anne), English women writers (novelists and poets). Emily is well-known for writing Wuthering Heights, a controversial Gothic novel. There's some debate as to whether Emily's novel was the greatest contribution to 19th-century literature by the three sisters. The style is striking in its poetic intensity.
