Editorial Reviews

AUGUST 2019 - AudioFile

Lauren Ezzo enthusiastically narrates Krull’s biographical sketches of famous authors. The short pieces are related thematically by commentary on the writers’ relationships to their pets, after a longer discussion of their lives and works. Given the variety of authors discussed—Beatrix Potter, Ernest Hemingway, Charles Dickens, and more—the title will have wide appeal, leading listeners to adult and children’s books from the 19th through the 21st centuries. While Ezzo’s accents and male voices in dialogue are somewhat weak, her energetic and warm delivery of the narrative will have listeners believing that she cares about each writer personally and is proud of their accomplishments.
