Worth Avenue
They both stopped. It had been two years since Emily had been viciously raped. An intruder had broken into her apartment and raped her at knifepoint. He wore a mask and she had never been able to identify him. She vaguely recalled a slight English accent, but that was all. The memories of the rape had plagued her for years. Finally she was coming around again. She and Michel had not had sex for the two years since he had known her, but he had stayed by her side.
“Wait until you see it. It’s apricot and has slashes of red and blue”. The thought of her painting infused her with energy. “It sounds beautiful.... Like you”. He loved Emily. He had not told her how much yet. He wanted to surprise her, not to rush her love. But today he had a real surprise for her, after lunch. He could hardly wait. His heart bubbled over. The food arrived and looked delicious. Michel cracked open the lobster and dipped a piece in butter. “Try this”. He fed her a piece of the lobster and it melted in her mouth. She smiled, “It’s fantastic”.
