This is where my family and their many pets trekked through this tropical island in search of food and shelter. They not only had to evade enemy capture, but avoid becoming victims of local bandits, that became active during the midst of war. They dodged bullets and grenades during battles between the Japanese soldiers and the Philippine Guerrilla Forces... while dealing with illnesses, scarcity of food and other hardships!
