World Voyage Planner
World Voyage Planner: Planning a voyage from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world

The main aim of World Voyage Planner is to help sailors plan a voyage from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world, with suggestions of alternative routes to certain destinations, recommended times and favourable seasons, tropical storm areas and critical months, suggested detours to attractive places, and strategically located ports of call to be used in an emergency.

World Voyage Planner fills a glaring absence among nautical books by being the only book to be written specifically on the subject of offshore voyage planning. It is thus a valuable and indispensable companion to Jimmy Cornells other books as it enables the reader to plan, undertake and accomplish a voyage from the earliest stage of conception to its successful completion.

His books now cover the entire spectrum of offshore voyaging with World Cruising Routes outlining over one thousand routes between specific destinations from start to landfall, World Cruising Destinations, giving detailed information on 184 maritime nations and Cornells Ocean Atlas presenting a comprehensive picture of weather conditions in every ocean of the world.

Every voyage is illustrated by pilot charts showing the weather conditions for the recommended months, such as average direction and strength of winds and currents. These up-to-date charts are based on observations made by meteorological satellites in the last twenty years and present an accurate picture of the current weather conditions in any of the worlds oceans. A description of the various alternatives for the continuation of the voyage concludes each section.

In recent years cruising yachts have reached some of the most remote parts of the world from Greenland to the Amazon, and even such challenging destinations as Antarctica and the Northwest Passage are no longer the preserve of tough explorers. While the main focus of this book is voyages along the most popular cruising routes, there are also suggested voyages to less frequented destinations, from Spitsbergen and Alaska to Southern Chile and Antarctica, but also on some of the navigable rivers and inland waterways of Europe, North America and West Africa.

About the Author

An accomplished sailor and successful author, Jimmy Cornell has sailed 200,000 miles in all oceans of the world including three circumnavigations as well as voyages to Antarctica, Alaska and Spitsbergen. Thousands of sailors have fulfilled their dream of blue water cruising with the help of Jimmy Cornells books, among them the bestseller World Cruising Routes. With 150,000 copies sold to date, this is one of the best selling nautical publications in the world. Most of Jimmy Cornells books have been translated into several languages.

Jimmy Cornell continues to be cruisings most influential writer. In 2011, Jimmy Cornell, together with son Ivan, created Cornells Ocean Atlas, the first set of pilot charts to be based on recent satellite data of world winds and currents. This was followed in 2012 by World Voyage Planner which gives cruisers the information they need to plan a voyage anywhere in the world.

As the founder of the highly successful ARC transatlantic rally, Jimmy Cornell is credited with having devised the offshore cruising rally concept. Now in its 27th year, the ARC continues to be the largest, and most popular, transocean event in the world. In the last 27 years Jimmy Cornell has organized over 30 transatlantic rallies, five round the world rallies and one round the world race, with over 3,000 boats and 15,000 sailors having participated in his sailing events.

Jimmy Cornells latest project is the Blue Planet Odyssey, a round the world event aiming to raise awareness of the global effects of climate change, as rising sea levels threaten to extinguish island communities such as Tuvalu and the Maldives by the end of this century. The rally will have starts in every continent and will call at some of the most threatened islands: Tuvalu, Tokelau, Tuamotus, San
Blas, Maldives, Micronesia and the Andaman Islands. The rally will also highlight the effects of climate change on the Arctic icecap, the Great Barrier Reef, and nature reserves such as the Galapagos Islands. At every stop at those endangered places, the sailors will take part in community projects such as building wind and solar powered desalination plants.

Fluent in 6 languages, Jimmy Cornell holds lectures and cruising seminars at yacht clubs and international boat shows.
