An attempt has been made to select these mathematicians from ancient times to the 20th century. The entries include biographical data, place and date of birth, post held, etc. but do not furnish personal details about the subject's family, prizes, honorary degrees, etc. However, a sincere effort has been undertaken to include their main research achievements, discoveries and inventions but the nature and importance of some entries are somewhat lengthy because we have found taken them interesting. It is hoped that the readers will find entries useful and interesting. The book will be of immense value to the students of Mathematics, research scientists and engineers working in science projects.

About the Author

Dr. Gurdeep R. Chhatwal obtained his M.Sc. degree from University of Roorkee and his Ph.D. degree from University of Delhi. Presently he is working as a reader and has over 20years experience of teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and agriculture students of Delhi University, Meerut University and Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi. He has published three dozen books from reputed publishers including Himalaya Publishing House, Bombay, Tata Mcgraw Hills, New Delhi Allied Publishers, New Delhi and C.B.S. Delhi. He has published more than30 research papers in international Scientific Journals of repute. He is honorary adviser to monthly magazine Junior Science Refresher' published by Bright Carrier Institute, Delhi. He is also an active member of advisory board for Institute of Management and Computer Science, Delhi.
