Was COLIN's wife, MADDY, not only cheating on him with his best friend, TAYLOR, but were they also planning his murder? Colin finds a story outline in Taylor's apartment that seems to imply they were. Writers often used people they knew as the basis for story characters. Of course it was nothing more. Or was it?
At a party the following week Maddy and Taylor disappear, only to be found coming out of the master bedroom. Maddy says she has a philosophy class, but when Colin checks, her car is not in the school lot. He hires a detective who uncovers that she was married before, had an affair with her husband's best friend, and her husband died of a suicide.
Convinced of his wife's infidelity and best friend's betrayal, Colin devises a scheme to murder Taylor and frame Maddy. But will he be in time, or will they kill him first? Or, was the whole thing just his imagination? It's not until last paragraph that the startling reality is revealed.
