Overview

“Delicately textured. . . achingly compassionate. . . gripping. . . . It's one of George's best, and that's saying something.” -Seattle Times

The #1*New York Times*bestselling author's chilling 13th novel in the Inspector Lynley series

Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley faces the greatest challenge of his career.

When an adolescent boy's nude body is found draped over a tomb in a graveyard, the police recognize the work of a serial killer who's been murdering boys in London. This is the killer's fourth victim but the first to be white.

Hoping to avoid charges of institutionalized prejudice in their failure to pursue the earlier crimes to their conclusion, New Scotland Yard takes the case and hands it over to Lynley and his colleagues Detective Constable Barbara Havers and Detective Sergeant Winston Nkata. The killer is a psychopath who does not intend to be stopped. But a devastating tragedy within their ranks causes the police to fumble in their pursuit, which may bring more fatal consequences.

Fans of mystery and thriller books will be captivated by With No One As Witness, a gripping novel that follows Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley as he tries to catch a serial killer who has been murdering boys in London.

The book is filled with suspense and betrayal, making it a must-read for fans of police procedural mysteries.

AUG/SEP 05 - AudioFile

A twisted killer is dispatching young boys in London, and Inspector Lynley, his partner, Barbara Havers, and Detective Winston Nkata must find him fast. Attention centers on a teen rehab facility frequented by most of the victims. Along with glimpses into the killer's mind, we get scenes from the private lives of the law officers. Lynley and his adored wife, Helen, are expecting a baby. The music that opens and closes each disc signals evil doings ahead while Charles Keating's spot-on narration sees us through. He brings to life George's continuing characters, as well as the bit players who represent London's multicultural residents. The abridgment makes sense, but the ending will bring Lynley fans up short. J.B.G. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
