Overview

Those trapped in cults are all around us – such as: family members, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Cult members are all around us. While not all cults pose a physical threat to society, many have quietly destroyed untold numbers of families and personal relationships by re-shaping lives with subversive mind control.

The purpose of mind control is to undermine and destroy a person's will, behavior and thoughts and replace their identity with cult ideology. As Nineteen Eighty-Four's character O'Brien said in the above statement, "We shall squeeze you empty, and then we shall fill you with ourselves." This is the ultimate goal of cult organizations.

By re-shaping their victim's way of thinking, cults can mold them into anything of their choice. Some cult victims strap bombs to their bodies. Many Bible-based cults such as the Watchtower Society instill fear in their followers by constantly reminding them of Armageddon. In such cults, homes and properties are sold in preparation for "the end." Family fortunes are then lost.

Like Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, those who are trapped in cults live in a world where they are constantly monitored, criticized and indoctrinated to believe they are powerless without the cult's leadership. Soon, the cult member loses the ability and capacity to think for himself. The organization does the thinking for them.

If you want to be better prepared to witness to people like the Jehovah's Witnesses, you must first understand how they arrive at their thinking. Only by understanding them you will be able to better achieve communication. The first step in witnessing is to build trust and rapport. Trust and rapport reduces defense mechanisms opening the door for a more successful witness.

This book will expose the mechanisms that cult organizations use to transform people's lives into their image. You will finally understand why your witness to Jehovah's Witnesses, and other cult groups have fallen on deaf ears and how you can overcome those unseen obstacles and lead them to Christ – because with God, all things are possible!

About the Author

Daniel Rodriguez attended LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles, CA and entered the fulltime ministry in 1987. In 1995, he was ordained with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) and served as an associate pastor in San Diego, California and in Portland, Oregon. He holds a degree in psychology and specializes in cult thought reform.

Aside from his ordination with ICFG, Daniel’s family background is unique in that five generations of his extended family have been active in the Watchtower organization as Jehovah’s Witnesses since the 1920's. His knowledge of the Jehovah's Witnesses comes from well over 30-years of in-depth research of the Watchtower's literature and by being personally touched by its influence.

Daniel's research and work has also been endorsed by Mr. Don Nelson who was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 35-years. Mr. Nelson served as a Bethelite at the Watchtower Society's Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, a Congregation Overseer, and as a senior Watchtower official (Circuit Overseer) in Brazil.

Today, Daniel resides in El Paso, Texas. He continues to research, write and conduct seminars nationwide on the subject of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and cult thought reform. He has worked as a Cult Exit Counselor for over 30-years, and is the author of Winning The Witnesses, and The Watchtower’s Coming Crisis, both published by Chick Publications.

Apart from his research, writing and conducting seminars, Daniel was also a piano performance major and also studied orchestral composition. Daniel is a concert musician and enjoys making digital recordings of his own piano and orchestral arrangements. His interests and hobbies include learning foreign languages. Aside from English, he speaks, reads and writes in both German and Japanese.
