Willa Cather December 7, 1873– April 24, 1947 is considered one of America's formost authors. She wrote abot and achieved recognition for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains. Her trilogy, O Pioneers!, My Ántonia, and The Song of the Lark is included in this volume. In 1923 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for One of Ours (1922), a novel set during World War I.

This move later provided the setting for her best-known novels which focus on immigrant life on the prairie. As the Pulitzer Prize-winner for One of Ours, novelist, and writer of short fiction and poetry, Cather is known as a major American author.
