My great-grandfather, Thomas Winn, was a U.S. Marshal who, with Marshall Stokes, tracked, captured, and arrested John D. Lee, the only man ever prosecuted and executed for the Mountain Meadows Massacre. My beloved grandmother, Clara Winn Skougaard, was Thomas’s daughter. She, together with her family, lived in the hostile environment of the aftermath of this event. Clinging to her Christian faith and moral standards, she raised her family to live a courageous, gracious, and truthful life.

About the Author

I was born in 1915 and raised in Parowan, Utah, a town that came to be associated with the Mountain Meadows Massacre, an event not talked about openly in the community but the history of which came to have a profound effect on my life and that of my family.

After raising four children, I returned to school, studying art, science, and creative writing. I wrote my book as a fictionalized version of my family’s history.

My interests today lie in keeping up with current events, political and scientific, and making a home for my cats, LuvLuv and Misty, and my tiny dog, Panjo.
