Pattern Note

Petal

Make 5

With MC and using 60-inch circular needle, cast on 110 sts. Do not join; work back and forth in rows.

Knit 1 row.

Inc row (RS): K1, M1, knit to last st, M1, k1 — 112 sts.

Continuing in garter st, rep Inc row [every 4 rows] 4 times, then [every 8 rows] 5 times — 130 sts.

Knit 7 rows.

Cut yarn and place sts on waste yarn. When last petal is completed, keep sts on needle and do not cut yarn.

Flower Center

Note: Follow order given in Stripe Sequence. Change to shorter needles and then to dpn as needed. Join to work in rnds at end of Rnd 1, placing different-color marker for beg of rnd.

With RS of all petals facing, slide rem 4 petals onto needle with 5th petal, keeping 5th petal with working yarn at tip of LH needle — 650 sts.

Rnd 1: Knit to 1 st before end of first petal, k2tog joining first and 2nd petals, pm; continue in this fashion around, joining petals and working last k2tog to join last and first petals; pm for beg of rnd.

Rnd 2: *Knit to 2 sts before marker, k2tog; rep from * around — 640 sts.

Rep Rnd 2 until 10 sts rem. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
