This book analyzes why the U.S. does not have a national health insurance program. The enactment of a Canadian-style national health insurance program is advocated. The purpose is to influence government, health insurance company executives, etc., regarding the enactment of a national health insurance program. This is a worthy objective. The intended audience is a relatively small group of national health insurance advocates. The author is a credible authority among members of this peer group. There are no unique features in particular. The illustrations are adequate. The references are current up to about 1990. The index, table of contents, and overall appearance of the book are good. The contributors were selected appropriately. This book succeeds in its purpose of making a case for the enactment of a national health insurance program in the U.S. It is appropriate for the relatively small audience for which the book is intended.
