About the Author

Rafael was born in Spain, and his family moved to Australia when he was three years old. He has experienced multiple challenges in his life which have caused him physical and emotional pain. Receiving love from his family gives him the greatest joy. When his daughter Parlorma was born, he felt his pain go away. Now Parlorma has her own two baby boys, and he wrote this book for them. He has memorialised in this book some of his Spanish heritage and places that are meaningful to Parlorma. The message that Rafael wants to share is that everybody in this world hurts at times, but he hopes to encourage young people to care for others, be a friend, forgive and love each other. In the story, Parlorma and Toffy have many differences, but they became good friends. The writing of this book is a dream that Rafael never imagined would become real. He hopes that children and families will be blessed by it and the world will be a better place, wherever they go.Rafael's photo was taken soon after his liver transplant, with his companion dog, Chicka, when she was a puppy. Chicka means "little girl" in Spanish. When meeting people, Rafael asks, "What word do you get if you spell dog backwards?" He says that Chicka truly is his angel without wings.Rafael hopes that you enjoy reading this book and, as he would say, "Stay beautiful!"Annette has lived her life on the east coast of New South Wales, Australia. She grew up on a farm between the Great Dividing Range and the Pacific Ocean where she learned to love animals and nature. Things that make her life beautiful is love from her family and friends, being in nature, especially at the beach. Being kind to animals, taking care of the environment and seeing people flourish bring her great satisfaction. Writing this book with Rafael was a wonderful journey.
