Why Is That Penguin Wearing Glasses?
Why is That Penguin Wearing Glasses? That question, and many others you may have, after looking at the cover, will be answered. This is a very humorous story, inspired by a character created by Thomas Holloway, my Grandson.
In the story, you will be introduced to Penelope, a penguin. Her friends and family call her Penny, a very common name for penguins. It introduces the reader to her family and tells of her very special relationship she had with her grandfather, who everyone affectionately called Papa Billy.
You will discover why Penny wears glasses and just what it is really like growing up as a penguin. The reader will see that a penguin's life is not so much different than their own when it comes to having fun, love of life, and family.
The book tells of time spent at Papa Billy's house and shares one of her favorite stories that he would tell Penny and her brothers. The tale he tells them is about the adventures, or misadventures of Pelly the Singing Pelican. A very common name for pelicans. That story will answer another question you may have "Why is there a pelican on the cover?"
While a children's book with heartfelt illustrations, this is a story any parent or grandparent will love to read to their family. You will see, a penguin's life is not so complicated.

About the Author

Jim Palmieri - Author
‘Why Is That Penguin Wearing Glasses?’ is my third story. My other books include ‘Dad I Want A Pet’ and ‘Fred The Snail’.

Who does not like penguins? I know I do, which is why I enjoyed writing this story so much. My parents always read to me when I was young, and my mother would always encourage me to write. It only took 68 years to do it.
I am especially pleased with this book because it is co-written with my Grandson, Thomas Holloway, whose love for books and creativity inspired these characters. It is illustrated by my very talented friend, Hope Richardson Fahey who brought these characters to life. This book allows me to have a collection of her incredible work all in one place. I hope this story and the illustrations bring a smile to your face. Enjoy!

Hope Richardson Fahey -Illustrator
I am honored to have been asked by the Author to illustrate his book and this endearing story. I have not drawn much since losing my father as a young teen and I would like to thank Jim for giving me this opportunity. I dedicate my art to my dear, talented father, William Jarvis Richardson, who was my mentor and worked with me endlessly as a child, drawing and inspiring me in art and so many other ways. My Dad shared his artistic talents with me, by teaching me life in brilliant parables. He was an amazing and kind gentleman who was crippled and disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but his bent and crooked hands never hindered his teaching and working with me. Never once did he raise his voice to his children, but he commanded the utmost respect by a soft voice that spoke volumes.

I lost this great man when I was a young, but I never lost the memory or admiration for this noble and kind spirited man.

My greatest wish is that my artistically gifted granddaughter, Brianna Starr Fahey, will follow in my footsteps and have an opportunity such as this to show-case her talents.
