About the Author

Datis Kharrazian, PhD, DHSc, DC, MS, MMSc, FACN, is a clinical research scientist, academic professor, and a functional medicine health care provider. He develops evidence-based models to treat autoimmune, neurological, and unidentified chronic diseases with non-pharmaceutical applications. His clinical models of functional medicine are used by several academic institutions and thousands of health care providers throughout the world.

Dr. Kharrazian has received appointments as an Associate Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, and a Research Fellow at the Department of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Kharrazian is also a faculty member of Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

Dr. Kharrazian earned a PhD in Health Science with concentrations in immunology and toxicology and a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degree from Nova Southeastern University. He completed his post-doctoral research training at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences, and a Master of Medical Sciences degree in Clinical Investigation from Harvard Medical School.

He is on the scientific editorial board for the Journal of Functional Neurology, Rehabilitation and Ergonomics and Alternative Medicine Therapies in Health and Medicine and is a requested scientific reviewer for several scientific journals.

He has published scientific papers in nutrition, neurology, autoimmunity, and toxicology and is currently conducting research in autoimmune molecular mimicry and environmentally induced immune reactivity.

Dr. Kharrazian has developed post-graduate courses in blood chemistry analysis, hormone and endocrine management, complex immunology testing, gastrointestinal management, and various topics in functional medicine. They are taught at more than 200 locations annually.

Dr. Kharrazian has a private practice for patients from all over the world seeking non-pharmaceutical alternatives to manage chronic conditions. He practices using diet, nutrition, neurological rehabilitative exercises, and lifestyle applications. Dr. Kharrazian has a private practice in San Diego, California, sees patients regularly, and works closely with them to help identify strategies to improve their health conditions.
