With sly wit, Sayers used Lord Peter Wimsey, an English aristocrat and amateur sleuth, to gently satirize the British class system. She is recognized as being one of the four "Queens of Crime" alongside Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, and Margery Allingham.
